Wuxi-Singapore Industrial Park (WSIP) was jointly set up at the end of 1993 by Wuxi Municipal Government and Singapore Sembcorp Technologies Industrial Corporation.
Over the last 12 years, both sides adhered to the principle of sincere cooperation and mutual benefit. Based on Wuxi's regional advantages of economic and social development, modeled after Singapore's successful experience in Jurong Town Industrial Zone and Indonesia Batamindo Industrial Park, WSIP aims to build itself a service-oriented Hi-tech industrial estate. It is initially shaping a frame of intensive development, strong devotion, one-stop service and high benefit, mainly developing electronics, IT industries. Up till now, WSIP has developed the area of 2.31 square kilometer, investing $180 million for infrastructure and standard factories. Up to the end of 2004, WSIP altogether invited 75 foreign-invested enterprises, with contract foreign capital $1.6 billion and $1.2 billion of paid in capital. There are more than 30 enterprises in WSIP whose investments are over $10 million, including a lot of big names like Seagate, Fairchild Semiconductor, Panasonic, MURATA, Sumitomo, ALPS, Hitachi Maxell, Mitsui, Infineon and MTS and so on. There are international schools, training centers, medical treatments, clubs and logistics companies in WSIP to meet investors' needs. The excellent services of WSIP make most projects run well and increase the scale. About 30,000 positions are offered. In 2004, the annual sales amount of enterprises in WSIP was RMB 23 billion yuan. Exportation brought in foreign exchange income $2.2 billion and the self-management export occupies 40% of Wuxi's Exportation. Today, an energetic hi-tech Industrial park with excellent infrastructure and service is growing up on this hot land, inviting more and more international investors.
