Information: Will the stronger Chinese currency and rising wages in China put pressure on manufacturing markets to the extend that you are considering other options? Many manufacturers have concrete plans to relocate to Vietnam and India, whereas others apply best practices in domestic market penetration while China remains a market for lower-cost labor and sources.

What are the opportunities and current trends for manufacturing, logistics and transportation? What are the pro’s and con’s of relocating? What impact do rising oil prices have on these trends? Get a better understanding and strategic advice on investments in China and the economic development of China.

Guest speakers:

Ted Hornbeam, MD for Asia of Richco Inc. and co-author of Amcham’s
study: “China Manufacturing Competitiveness 2007”.

Ted Hornbein has lived and worked 17 years in China for a variety of industrial companies and he joined Richco in 2006.

Peter N. Rasmussen, co-founder and co-owner of Asia Base.

Peter has lived and worked in China since 1988 and he founded Asia Base in Suzhou in 1993. Asia Base has assisted in the establishment of many Danish companies which today are very successful, as is Asia Base itself.
Peter N. Rasmussen was one of the three candidates for the ‘Business
Person of the Year’ 2007 award hosted by DCCC.
