Speakers' Biographies:

WU, Siegfried Zhiqiang, Dean of the College of Architecture and Urban Planning, Tongji University; Chief Planner, World Expo 2010 Shanghai ChinaProfesspr WU received his degree in 1996 from Technical University of Berlin, Germany. In 2007, he was appointed as the Vice President of Chinese Green Building Society and Vice Editor of "China Green Building White Paper". He also serves as Co-Chair of International Steering Committee of World Planning Schools Congress, Permanent member of UNESCO-UIA World Architectural Education Council, the President of Asia Planning schools Association from 2003-2007, Secretary General of Regional Jury Asia Pacific of Holcim Competition for Sustainable Construction, Member of Standing Council at International Metropolis Foundation, Director of Planning Education Steering Council of China amd Vice President of Urban Planning Society of China. As the Chief Planner of the Shanghai Expo, he proposed the "H-City" (Harmony City) scheme as guidelines for the planning and design at all levels to illustrate the Expo's "Better City, Better Life" theme. He is currently leading a research team on the "Eco-Expo Planning and Design", which will be a revolutionary remold of city development.

Hugh Peyman, Founder and President, Research-WorksHugh Peyman is the founder and President of Research-Works, a Shanghai-based research company that specialises in longer-term research that seeks Big Ideas and Misconceptions. Hugh has had over 25 years experience in Asian economic and equities research with leading global investment banking firms: in 1984 Peyman started Merrill Lynch's Southeast Asian research and went on to head Merrill Lynch's Asian research. He was the first person to forecast a revaluation of the Chinese Yuan, when many were expecting devaluation, and in June 2004, when oil was at $36 a barrel, forecast it could reach $60-70 within two years, largely because of China's then under-appreciated demand.

Graham Earnshaw, President, Xinhua Finance Media LtdGraham Earnshaw is President of Xinhua Finance Media Ltd, and also publisher of China Economic Review magazine. Graham's career as a journalist included assignments as Beijing bureau chief for both Reuters (1985-87) and the London Daily Telegraph (1980-84), and Reuters editor for Asia (1989-95). He has written several books, including Life and Death of a Dotcom in China. His translation of the kung fu novel The Book and The Sword was published in 2004 by Oxford University Press, and recently published Tales of Old Shanghai.
