China To Build The World's Fastest Trains

China is no longer just betting heavily on the development of the country's railways, now it also wants have the fastest trains in the world. First step is the construction of a super-speed railway line between the national capital of Beijing and the financial capital of Shanghai. According to the BBC and China Daily the new super trains that are to run on this line will do so at a top speed of no less than 380 kilometres per hour (km/h), cutting the present 10-hour travel time by 50%.

 

The heavy investments in China's railways recently let to the official opening of another high-speed express railway line between Beijing and the port city of Tianjin. Here the trains run at a top speed of 350 km/h, making it one of the fastest rail lines on the planet, at least until the first Beijing-Shanghai super express train tears through China's countryside in the near future.
