Aluminium temper designations
Hardness scale based upon 0-8
• - Fully Soft
• - 1/4 Hard
4 - 1/2 Hard
6 - 3/4 Hard
8 - Fully Hard
In a temper designation of :for exampleH 24 H Hardness
• How alloy was hardened
• 4 Hardnes factor,(4= 1/2 hard)
The second digit in the temper designation denotes how alloy was hardened or how temer was achieved.There are 3 main designations for mill finish coil,and I designation which is for painted or coated coil ,They are:
• Strain Hardened Only
• Strain hardened and partially annealed
• Strain hardened and stabilided
• Denotes a painted product
Therefore,theoretically,painted aluminum could be sold as,for example 3003 H44 or 3105 H45.for example:
H 25 H-Hardness
• – Alloy was strain hardened and partially annealed
5 Temper is between half and three quarters hard.
